Easy-to-Use Videos Turn Homes into Stars

Real estate practitioners are embracing the new technology VizzVox as a marketing tool for their listings.

Users of VizzVox say the online solution for creating commercials and short movies enables them to appeal more to the real estate fantasies of potential buyers, unlike real estate postcards and Sunday open houses. The Web-based technology allows practitioners to create narrated slide shows or movies and also use voice-over narration during a home tour to comment on the neighborhood and on details such as handcrafted woodwork. Soft classical music and bird songs accompany the tour of the lavish 1922 Italianate estate of architect Andrew Knoll in Los Altos, Calif., which also includes a romantic-sounding British guide.

The technology is easy to use, and real estate pros are able to create commercials in less than an hour. Compared to professionally produced videos, which can cost $6,000 to $15,000 for a three-minute spot, VizzVox is relatively inexpensive at $150 per spot.

VizzVox has gained traction among San Francisco Bay Area practitioners and professionals in numerous parts of the country, and real estate company Alain Pinel–one of the largest brokerages in the country in sales volume–has encouraged its sales associates to use the technology.
