Installation demonstrations and educational sessions display ease of structural insulated panel assembly

ORLANDO, December 28, 2007 – Builders looking to learn how to build green homes with structural insulated panels can get their questions answered at the Structural Insulated Panel Association’s “SIPA Village” exhibit at International Builders’ Show, February 13-16, in the Orange County Convention Center.

The Structural Insulated Panel Association (SIPA) will be leading hands-on demonstrations inside the 3,000 sq. ft. SIPA Village exhibit.  Displays and diagrams that address commonly asked installation questions will be incorporated into the exhibit.

“By including frequent demonstrations we hope to draw more people into the exhibit and give them a real experience of the product and how it can help them cut labor costs,” said Bill Wachtler, SIPA’s Executive Director.

In addition to demonstrations on the exhibit floor, SIPA will be leading a ninety-minute educational session on the basics of building and designing with structural insulated panels.  The seminar will take place at 10:30am on February 16, and feature SIPA members Frank Baker, PFB Corp.; Al Cobb, Panelwrights; and Damian Pataluna, FischerSIPs.

“The seminar has a wide variety of speakers covering diverse topics,” said presenter Damian Pataluna.  “For a builder that is new to structural insulated panels, this seminar will cover a lot of necessary information.”

Ten SIPA member companies will be exhibiting in the SIPA village. SIPA member volunteers will also be on hand to answer questions from attendees.

“The SIPA Village is a one stop shop for everything SIPs,” said Wachtler.  “Visitors to our booth can see informative demonstrations and get their questions answered by SIP industry professionals.”

During the 2007 International Builders’ Show, Secretary Alphonso Jackson from the Department of Housing and Urban Development made the SIPA Village one of the few stops on his tour.

“Secretary Jackson and other Department of Housing and Urban Development officials were impressed with our level of industry cooperation,” said Wachtler.

The SIPA Village will be located at booth number W3572 in the Orange County Convention Center.
