NLIHC President Sheila Crowley to Discuss FY11 HUD Budget Issues at NHC Annual Budget Forum

WHAT: The National Housing Conference (NHC) will host its annual forum to examine how rental housing, homelessness assistance, and other key housing programs fare in the Administration’s FY11 budget proposal.

WHEN: Friday, March 12, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m.

WHERE:     U.S. Capitol Visitor Center
Congressional Auditorium
Washington, DC.

WHO:  Raphael Bostic, Assistant Secretary for the Office of Policy Development and Research at HUD, will be the featured speaker.

Panelists will include:

Sheila Crowley, President and CEO, National Low Income Housing Coalition.

Conrad Egan, Immediate Past President, NHC (moderator).

• Jonathan Harwitz, Deputy Chief of Staff, Policy and Programs Department at HUD.

Nan Roman, President and CEO, National Alliance to End Homelessness.

Sarah Wartell, Executive Vice President, Center for American Progress.

Background: The current economic climate makes the federal approach to housing and homelessness critical in shaping the country’s future. This year’s annual housing budget forum will offer public and private-sector housing leaders with an extensive first look at housing concerns within the President’s FY11 budget proposal, with a particular emphasis on rental housing and homelessness assistance programs.
