May 24, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — On May 25, NLIHC President and CEO Sheila Crowley will testify in support of the National Housing Trust Fund (NHTF) at a hearing of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs) titled, “Transparency, Transition and Taxpayer Protection: More Steps to End the GSE Bailout.” The hearing will be at 2 pm in room 2128 of the Rayburn House office building.
The hearing is focused on a package of seven bills circulated by Republican Members of the House Committee on Financial Services intended to dismantle Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. One of these bills, introduced by Representative Ed Royce (RCA), would abolish the National Housing Trust Fund.
Ms. Crowley’s testimony will focus on the value of the National Housing Trust Fund as a solution to the persistent structural deficit of rental housing affordable and available to the lowest income people in the United States.
Ms. Crowley will be available to speak to members of the media either before or following her testimony.
