Home builders host rally to tell lawmakers that homeownership still works for America
WASHINGTON, D.C. – January 10, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — The American Dream is under attack. Lawmakers and regulators are crafting proposals that, if left unchecked, will harm home owners, home buyers, the housing market and the nation’s economy. On Thursday, January 12, Columbia’s home builders, Realtors and other industry professionals will join political, business and community leaders for a rally on the steps of the South Carolina State House to tell policymakers that homeownership still works in America and needs our strong support.

WHAT:
Rally for Homeownership on the north steps of the South Carolina State House to tell elected officials to protect homeownership from threats including scaling back or eliminating the mortgage interest deduction, reducing access to affordable mortgages and loans for home buyers and small businesses, and the foreclosure crisis. Attendees can sign a petition to elected leaders calling for a renewed commitment to tax, legislative and regulatory actions that support and encourage homeownership. The event is open to all.
