Home in Minneapolis to Receive $1.3 Million in VA Funding
WASHINGTON, DC – September 20, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — The Department of Veterans Affairs is awarding nearly $1.3 million for the state of Minnesota to construct a new generator building at the state Veterans home in Minneapolis.
“Our federal-state partnership helps to provide comfortable and safe housing in a caring community for Minnesota Veterans who have served their country,” said Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki.
VA’s grant will cover approximately 65 percent of the estimated $2 million cost of the project.
In fiscal year 2011, VA spent $2.2 billion to serve Minnesota’s more than 360,000 Veterans. Veterans Integrated Service Network 23 is headquartered in Minneapolis. VA also runs major medical centers in Minneapolis and St. Cloud, 11 outpatient clinics, three Vet Centers, and one national cemetery across the state.
