Provides Contractors A Better Way to Prequalify Subcontractors
WASHINGTON, DC – October 2, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — In collaboration with ConsensusDocs, iSqFt has launched a new online platform designed to make the prequalification process for contractors and subcontractors seeking new work more efficient. The new application, which will also help manage information for prequalified companies, incorporates the ConsensusDocs 721 Subcontractor Prequalification Statement.
“ConsensusDocs’ mission is to improve the design and construction industry by identifying and utilizing best practices,” commented Brian Perlberg, Executive Director and Counsel of ConsensusDocs. “The new iSqFt Prequalification Management Application incorporating the ConsensusDocs 721 will make the prequalification process significantly more efficient.”
The new platform will use the ConsensusDocs 721 document, which provides general contractors a better, easier way to prequalify their subcontractors with a best practice, standardized form. iSqFt worked with ConsensusDocs to provide access to this form through its prequalification management application. The iSqFt prequalification application transforms the users’ experience by making information entered dynamic.
Instead of repetitively filling out a form from scratch for multiple projects, a subcontractor seeking to be qualified will now be able to fill out the ConsensusDocs 721 once and share it with multiple general contractors for multiple projects. Contractors and owners can then use the information more efficiently by integrating the information with the bid or negotiation process. The new application allows tens of thousands of subcontractors who have provided prequalification information through iSqFt’s online tool to be prepopulated to a large extent.
“We believe the ConsensusDocs standards are a great addition to our application. We incorporated them into an easy-to-use online platform,” says iSqFt President and CEO Dave Conway. He explains that in spite of a host of technological improvements in recent years, many GCs are still creating prequalification forms from scratch, and they’re still asking their vendors to fill them out by hand or as a PDF. “That’s incredibly inefficient, for both the GC’s and their subs.”
