Confidence in Economy Motivates Agents, Consumers

Ottawa, ON – August 13, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — At its annual Conference of Broker/Owners and Office Managers, RE/MAX announced the addition of more than 3,000 new agents since the first of the year, as the real estate market and consumer confidence continues to strengthen. Nearly 800 attendees from North America, Europe, Asia, Australia and the Caribbean gathered in Ottawa for the event, many who are seeing pent up demand in their local cities and towns from potential homebuyers who are now competing for the homes that are up for sale.

At the opening session, RE/MAX Co-Founder and Chairman, Dave Liniger, who missed the event last year due to a life-threatening illness, told the audience that personal drive is what makes everyone a survivor.

“We’re now seeing a recovery and RE/MAX is growing again,” said Liniger. “We survived as a team and learned from it, and now have a tremendous opportunity before us. I’m excited about where we’re about to go.”

Liniger also presented the results of U.S. and Canadian surveys that showed consumers had the highest unaided awareness of the RE/MAX brand and reported using RE/MAX agents more often than agents with other real estate franchise brands.

Liniger became a bestselling author this year, with the release of his motivational book, “My Next Step: An Extraordinary Journey of Healing and Hope,” (Hay House Inc., 2013), landing a spot on the New York Times Best Sellers List. The book recounts Liniger’s determination as he fought through a paralyzing staph infection.

Moderating a panel of Broker/Owners from both the United States and Canada, RE/MAX CEO Margaret Kelly facilitated a conversation on the improving aspects of the two economies and their respective real estate markets.

Keynote speaker, Kentucky Wildcat basketball coach John Calipari delivered a message of recruiting and retaining the best performers, while motivating team members to achieve their very best.

In 2013, the results from two prestigious surveys of the largest U.S. brokerages showed that RE/MAX agents continue to outperform competitors. The RISMedia Power Broker Report and the REAL Trends 500 survey both showed that RE/MAX agents were the most productive when ranked by closed transaction sides per agent among the leading real estate franchises.

And, in the Wall Street Journal and REAL Trends “The Thousand,” RE/MAX agents held 98 of the 500 spots for most transaction sides closed; per agent, or per team of agents- more than any other brand.

The RE/MAX Broker/Owner Conference will continue through Wednesday at the Ottawa Convention Centre.
