Building Systems Councils of NAHB Announces 2014 Board of Trustees

WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 19, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — The Building Systems Councils (BSC) of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) announced its 2014 Board of Trustees last month during the International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas. The BSC represents the concrete, log, modular and panelized building system industries, as well as builders and suppliers to those industries.

Jason Blenker, president of Blenker Building Systems Inc. in Amherst, Wis., will lead the BSC Board of Trustees as the group’s chairman. He is also the president of Envision Home at Last—a network of professional home builders that assist home buyers in designing their home through 3-D virtual home design software. In addition to NAHB and the BSC, Blenker is an active member of the Golden Sands Home Builders Association and the Wisconsin Home Builders Association.

“Building systems allow home builders to build precision-quality homes in less time than traditional methods by leveraging the purchasing power, value engineering and manufacturing processes of the systems-built manufacturer,” said Blenker. “One of my main goals as the BSC chairman is to educate builders and consumers about the built-in value, strength and beauty of the homes we create.”

Dan Mitchell, an experienced building systems and site-built home builder, will serve as vice chairman. He is the owner of Eagle CDI in Seymour, Tenn., and has served as the chair of the BSC’s Systems Builders Council for the past five years. A Century Club member, BUILD-PAC contributor and regular attendee and presenter at the International Builders’ Show, Mitchell has been an invaluable bridge between the BSC’s manufacturing members and the building community. He is also the president of the Sevier County Home Builders Association.

“I’m a strong advocate of building systems use in the field, and I believe that bringing creative ideas and fresh perspectives to the BSC are invaluable to its future growth and success,” said Mitchell. “Being a part of the BSC is a great opportunity to spread the word about the benefits of our industry.”

Rounding out the leadership team is Willard “Buddy” Hughes, who will serve as second vice chairman. Hughes is the owner/president of Hughes Construction in Lexington, N.C., which specializes in insulated concrete forms and other systems-built construction techniques. He has been a member of HBA of Davidson County since 1993 and is very involved with the HBA of North Carolina. 2014 will be Hughes’ fourth year on the BSC board.

“The building systems industry is one that will continue to grow as consumers become even more aware of all the benefits it has to offer,” said Hughes. “I’m proud to be a part of the BSC to help get the message out about our industry.”
