WASHINGTON, D.C. – August 8, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — Bill Lucks, Senior Advisor and Broker of Record for Sperry Van Ness – Miller Commercial Real Estate in Lewes, DE recently attended the first National Association of Realtors (NAR) Environmental Summit in Washington, D.C. Lucks is among a select hand-picked group of Realtors from across the nation to begin the process of determining how NAR should address climate change, and how it will affect both residential and commercial real estate. “Dramatic changes in our environment will have an impact on how and where people want to live, which will inevitably transform local real estate markets. This summit is an opportunity for Realtors® to assess and prioritize the wide variety of environmental risks that could affect the way people buy and sell property,” said NAR President Steve Brown

The speakers at the summit included Dan Glickman, who served as the Secretary of Agriculture under President Clinton, and Tom Ridge, first Secretary of U.S. Department of Homeland Security, former Governor of Pennsylvania, president and CEO of Ridge Global and partner at Ridge-Schmidt Cyber. Panel topics included the economic impact of environmental changes, politics of natural resource management, public perceptions of environmental risks and threats, smart growth, and environmental regulations and protections. Lucks states, “Climate change may create a different world for all REALTORS and the time has come to address the issue and to determine what solutions we can bring to the table.”

In addition to being a Senior Advisor with SVN-Miller, Bill Lucks is also on the Board of Directors at NAR, a member of the NAR Broker Involvement Committee, the Chair DelPac for the Delaware Association of Realtors (DAR), a Past President of DAR, a Committee Member of the Sea Level Advisory Committee for the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), and currently serves on the Beach Regulations Advisory Committee and the Well Water Review Committee.
