Ask Your Legislators to Co-Sponsor the Housing Production Bill

-

WASHINGTON, D.C. – January 28, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Please take a few minutes to reach out to your legislators by phone, email, or social media and ask them to co-sponsor HD3173, AN ACT RELATIVE TO HOUSING PRODUCTION. The bill will provide Massachusetts with the tools necessary to help all residents in the Commonwealth have a safe, decent, and affordable place to call home.

17,000 new homes are needed each year in Massachusetts to meet demand and maintain our economy. More multifamily options within walking distance to neighborhood amenities are also needed to meet the increasing demand. The housing shortage, combined with the shift towards producing single-family homes on larger lots, makes it harder for people across incomes to find homes they can afford.

The bill, filed by Chairman Honan, includes financial incentives, the removal of administrative barriers for communities, mandatory measures, and new tools that will accelerate the production of multifamily housing.

The deadline to gather co-sponsors is this Friday, January 30th, so please contact your legislators today! Click here(link is external) to find your legislators’ contact information.
