WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 3, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today announced industry leader Greg Sizemore as its vice president of environment, health, safety (EH&S) and workforce development for ABC. Sizemore is tasked with directing ABC’s long-range strategic objectives related to creating an innovative, skilled, productive, healthy and safe workforce.

“Helping ABC members develop people and deliver work safely are two key elements of ABC’s long-term strategic plan and are built into the core values of our association,” said ABC President and CEO Mike Bellaman. “We know there is a skilled workforce shortage in this industry and have a deeply held belief that all incidents on construction jobsites are preventable; therefore, we choose to seize the opportunity to leverage innovation to drive productivity and safety. In Greg, we found a transformational leader who will spearhead our workforce development, environment, health and safety initiatives, which will help our members deliver the highest value during the construction process and, as a result, be leaders within the industry.”

In his new role, Sizemore will use his more than 30 years of experience as a workforce development leader at major construction and engineering firms Zachry Industrial and BE&K, to transform ABC’s craft training, recruitment and retention efforts. A strategic focus of his role will be to integrate innovative practices and new technologies into the craft as a way to increase productivity and create incident- and injury-free jobsites.

“The world we live in today is saturated with technology and innovations we couldn’t have dreamed up five years ago—tablets, virtual design, drones, total robotic stations, to name a few,” said Sizemore. “This opportunity is exciting because I am in a position to develop and execute ABC’s strategy to use these advancements, and all ones that are yet to come, to achieve the long-standing goals of the association: helping ABC members and the industry continue the effort to reach zero-incidence jobsite and offering best-in-class training to our craft professionals.

“The construction industry has provided for my family and given me a career that I’m very proud of and I’m looking forward to being in a position to help people understand the opportunities the construction industry affords them and that will ensure our industry has a bright future led by well-trained, innovative, productive, safety conscious professionals,” said Sizemore.

Most recently, Sizemore served as senior manager of craft development for Zachry Industrial, Inc., San Antonio, Texas, a role in which he provided enterprise-wide workforce development expertise to business development leaders, project management teams and clients. Previously, Sizemore worked for BE&K, Inc., Birmingham, Ala., with recent roles as a manager of construction training and an employee training manager.

Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) is a national construction industry trade association representing nearly 21,000 chapter members. Founded on the merit shop philosophy, ABC and its 70 chapters help members develop people, win work and deliver that work safely, ethically, profitably and for the betterment of the communities in which ABC and its members work.
