WASHINGTON, DC – September 16, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today marking the 50th anniversary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD):

“Fifty years ago today, President Lyndon B. Johnson established the Department of Housing and Urban Development to ‘make sure that every family in America lives in a home of dignity and a neighborhood of pride, a community of opportunity, and a city of promise and hope.’ Through its efforts to promote economic development, make quality housing more affordable, and strengthen our communities, HUD continues to work to fulfill that mission and help put the American Dream within reach for families across the country. Half a century after its founding, I join in thanking HUD Secretary Castro and the Department’s employees for their dedication to expanding access to middle-class opportunities and improving the quality of life for all Americans.”
