Clark County Board of Commissioners Announces the Year of Clean Water

WASHINGTON, D.C. – November 4, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The Clark County Board of Commissioners will designate November 2015 through October 2016 as the “Year of Clean Water” in recognition of the 60th year of operation of the Clark County Water Reclamation District’s main water resource center.

Wastewater treatment plant operations began in 1956 at a small facility on Monson Road (now East Flamingo), serving 500 customers at what was described as the remote east end of the valley. The treatment facilities have expanded over 60 years to serve the growing community.

The Flamingo Water Resource Center is now the largest water reclamation facility in Nevada, with 235,000 customers, treating and returning over 100 million gallons of water to the environment every day.

“The Water Reclamation District plays an important role in the community’s water care cycle”, said Water Reclamation District Chairman Lawrence Brown. “Treating and reclaiming high quality water to the environment is a great community commitment and accomplishment every single day.”

The Board of Commissioners will make the designation of the “Year of Clean Water” at their November 3, 2015, Board meeting at 9 a.m. in the Commission Chambers of the Clark County Government Center located at 500 S. Grand Central Parkway.
