High-End London-style Development in Houston Honored in National Design Competition

WASHINGTON, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) — Winfield Gate, a London-style luxury townhouse community in Texas that’s minutes away from Houston’s downtown, has been honored as the Multifamily Community of the Year in the 2016 Best in American Living™ Awards (BALA) by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

Winfield Gate’s finely crafted exterior evokes the stately lines of Winfield House, the U.S. ambassador’s residence in London. Located in the heart of the River Oaks neighborhood near boutiques, restaurants and art galleries, Winfield Gate is only 10 minutes from downtown Houston and the Galleria.

Limited to 1.3 acres, the builder was able to construct 20 spacious residences four and five stories tall. In each, a private elevator accesses all floors. Fourteen homes were pre-sold before breaking ground to the target market of affluent empty nesters. The average sales price was $1.9 million.

Winfield Gate was meticulously designed for the sophisticated urbanite’s desire for gracious living, easy entertaining and elegant spaces without time-consuming property maintenance. Each distinctive residence incorporates carefully chosen finishes and high-end amenities. Built around a lush central courtyard and fountain, the community is secured by a privacy wall with guarded entry.

The project was designed by Preston Wood & Associates LLC, and built and developed by Winfield Gate Partners LLC, both of Houston. The team also included land planner Vernon G. Henry and Associates, also of Houston.

In its 33rd year, BALA recognizes outstanding achievement by builders and design professionals in all sectors of the residential industry including single-family production, custom, rental, affordable, interiors, remodeling, community and international. Award winners were announced at the annual NAHB International Builders’ Show in Orlando, Fla.

Additional information about the BALA program is at nahb.org/BALA, including the 2016 BALA Portfolio, featuring a review of design trends and project photographs.
