2017 NAHB International Builders’ Show Boasts Strong Attendance Numbers

WASHINGTON, DC – (RealEstateRama) — Last month, more than 68,000 home builders, remodelers, developers and designers flocked to Orlando, Fla. to attend the 2017 International Builders’ Show® (IBS), the largest annual light construction trade show in the world. The show, hosted by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) returned to Orlando after a four-year run in Las Vegas.

In addition to growth in attendance, exhibit space expanded this year to 569,000 square feet—nearly 20 percent larger than last year—to accommodate a growing number of exhibitors which totaled more than 1,500 on the Show floor and in the outdoor exhibition areas.

IBS is the largest component of the annual Design & Construction Week®, which also includes the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show® (KBIS). The combined events saw more than 80,000 total attendees visiting exhibits which spanned the West, North and South halls of the Orange County Convention Center.

“The energy at this year’s show was palpable, as attendees visited the expansive exhibit floor filled with the latest trends in building and design, participated in high level education sessions, and took advantage of the numerous special events and networking opportunities offered,” said Geoff Cassidy, NAHB senior vice president of exhibitions and meetings. “We are really proud that IBS is known as the show of the year for our industry—bringing together all aspects of the home building, remodeling and design fields in one place.”

IBS kicked off with an energetic presentation by former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning, and that energy continued to be reflected for the next three days. NAHB members also enjoyed a special presentation by businesswoman and “Shark Tank” personality Barbara Corcoran. Tours were offered throughout the week of NAHB’s official show homes, The New American Home® and The New American Remodeled Home®. The week closed out with a great performance at the IBS Closing Spike Concert with Grammy-award winning band, Little Big Town.

Lots of new experiences at IBS 2017 included more hands-on, interactive learning experiences from the new Builder Clinics and Tech Bytes sessions, the CEDIA Smart Home Pavilion, the NAHB Meeting of the Members and an inside look at how high performance works at the new Building Performance Lab.
