Habitat for Humanity recognized for excellence in safety

ATLANTA (Feb. 17, 2017) – (RealEstateRama) — The National Association of Home Builders awarded Habitat for Humanity with the Judges Special Recognition Award during the annual SAFE awards reception at the 2017 International Builders Show in Orlando.

Habitat

This is the second year in a row Habitat has received a SAFE award for developing and implementing high-quality construction safety programs across nearly 1,400 communities in the U.S.

“Our safety program enables us to maintain high safety standards on Habitat build sites across the country,” said Sue Henderson, vice president, Operations, U.S. and Canada, Habitat for Humanity International. “We share this achievement with our network of staff members, volunteers and homeowners who work toward Habitat’s mission to ensure everyone has a decent place to call home.”

The NAHB/Builders Mutual Insurance Company Safety Award for Excellence recognizes member companies, workers and other individuals for the excellent safety programs that make them leaders in the residential construction industry.

“It gives me great pleasure to recognize the recipients of this year’s SAFE awards,” said NAHB Construction, Safety and Health Committee Chairman Carl Harris, a builder and the co-founder of Carl Harris Co. Inc. from Wichita, Kansas. “Safety is no longer an afterthought in our industry – our employees and our reputations are too valuable to put at risk. Safety should be in forefront of every project, from budget through completion, and we wish to recognize those individuals and companies that have demonstrated a commitment to safety above and beyond the industry standard.”

About Habitat for Humanity

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia.
