WASHINGTON, D.C. – May 22, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — The American Institute of Architects (AIA) today issued the following statement on the unanimous approval of H.R. 2750, the Design-Build Efficiency and Jobs Act, by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. Please attribute to AIA CEO Robert Ivy, FAIA:
“We applaud the unanimous approval by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee of this crucial piece of legislation, which will spur more competition and help the government – and by inference, its taxpayers – build projects that are safe, productive and sustainable.
“In particular, we want to commend Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) and Ranking Member Elijah Cummings (D-MD) for their leadership on this bill.
“H.R. 2750, the Design-Build Efficiency and Jobs Act, will provide more opportunities for architects to compete for federal government business which means a better product.”
We would also like to thank Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO) for introducing this bill and the 14 bi-partisan co-sponsors for championing these important reforms.
