Building on the U.S. Energy Boom, BPC’s Energy Project to Release Comprehensive Set of Policy Recommendations

“America’s Energy Resurgence: Sustaining Success, Confronting Challenges”

Washington, D.C.- January 30, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — Former U.S. Senator Byron L. Dorgan, former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott, retired General James L. Jones, and former EPA Administrator William K. Reilly will address the National Press Club on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, on a bipartisan set of policy recommendations that they, together with the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Energy Project Board, have crafted as a guide for policymakers in 2013.

Though the U.S. has increasingly abundant and diverse sources of domestic energy, many challenges remain: affordable energy is still a challenge for many households and businesses; the oil and gas boom comes with environmental challenges; an aging electric grid faces infrastructure and reliability hurdles; and public investments in energy R&D are insufficient to help keep an international edge. Meanwhile, the issues of climate change, global energy market volatility, policy uncertainty, and competition for energy resources by countries with growing economies remain.

The Bipartisan Policy Center’s (BPC) Energy Project co-chairs will discuss the changing American energy landscape and the policy recommendations our Board has compiled to address these new opportunities and these lingering hindrances.

Jason Grumet, president of BPC, will open the event and Margot Anderson, executive director of BPC’s Energy Project, will introduce the co-chairs and then lead a question and answer session with the audience after the co-chairs’ remarks.

The event is open to the press but reserved seating is limited. Press interested in attending should RSVP to ">.
