Senior living campus to serve more than 500 Westside seniors with a full range of active living, healthcare and in-home services
LOS ANGELES – September 16, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — C.W. Driver, a premiere builder serving California since 1919, has begun construction on Fountainview at Gonda West Los Angeles Westside Campus. Situated on 2.5 acres in the Playa Vista neighborhood, the 460,000-square-foot continuing care retirement community will provide more than 500 Westside seniors with a full range of active living, healthcare and in-home services. Designed by Gensler, the $100 million complex will feature 175 luxurious apartment units for independent living as well as 24 assisted living and memory care. Construction is scheduled for completion in 2016.
“Fountainview at Gonda is a testament to C.W. Driver’s unparalleled expertise in the senior housing market,” said Mike Byrne, senior vice president of C.W. Driver. “As the baby boomer generation begins to downsize their current living situation, they look for specialized communities that can offer amenities to match their current lifestyle. This is one such facility that provides residents the opportunity to customize their lifestyle based upon their specific needs.”
Designed to blend comfort and elegance in a resort-like setting, the complex will feature one and two bedroom units, ranging in size from 840 to 2,380 square feet. Units will include full kitchens, washer and dryers, and terraces, while some of the larger units will also include dens and media rooms.
Through the facility’s completion, C.W. Driver will coordinate and oversee the construction of the building as well as manage site logistics and the scheduling, safety and quality control of all subcontractors. Due to the challenges associated with tight urban sites, C.W. Driver will work closely with all subcontractors to schedule the delivery of materials as needed.
In addition to Byrne, the C.W. Driver project team members include Brian Rush, project director; John Kately, senior project manager; Jim Siebers, senior superintendent, Tanya Shaghafi, senior project engineer; Brian Giambastiani, senior project engineer; and Tom Zaczyk, senior project planner. Additional project consultants include Gensler, SFA Design, Saiful Bouquet Structural Engineer, Donald F. Dickerson Associates, Cini-Little International, Inc., Rowley International Inc. and Aquatic Design Group.
C.W. Driver’s work on the Fountainview at Gonda luxury apartments joins a number of other C.W. Driver projects in the Los Angeles region including Loyola Marymount University Life Sciences Complex, City of Manhattan Beach Library, SONY Pictures Studio Support Office Building and Production Services Building, Santa Monica Community College AET campus parking structure and NBC Universal Brokaw Broadcast Center.
