CHAIRMAN BECERRA, WITH BIPARTISAN GROUP OF CURRENT AND FORMER HOUSE AND SENATE MEMBERS, SIGNS AMICUS BRIEF DEFENDING PRESIDENT OBAMA’S CLEAN POWER PLAN

WASHINGTON, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) — Democratic Caucus Chairman Xavier Becerra (CA-34) today joined 163 current and former House Members as well as 44 current and former Senators in signing on to an amicus brief to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit defending President Obama’s Clean Power Plan:

“I am proud to add my voice in defense of President Obama’s Clean Power Plan. The misguided lawsuit before our courts would roll back the President’s efforts to move America toward clean power. It would threaten the health of hardworking Americans and put the framework of our nation’s environmental stewardship at risk.

“In California, we’re beyond this Old World thinking. We’re doing our part by investing in clean energy such as wind and solar power to reduce harmful emissions, a major goal of the Administration’s plan.

“The lawsuit challenging the Clean Power Plan is blatantly political and yet another example of Republican attempts to achieve in our courts what they cannot through legislation. Instead of pushing hardline lawsuits that are out of step with the interests of the American people, I urge my Republican colleagues to get back to work. It’s time to legislate, not litigate.”
