DelBene: Research Should Be Driven by Science, Not Ideology

-

WASHINGTON, D.C. – May 21, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) today opposed a bill that would restrict government investments in science, technology and innovation based on partisan ideology. The bill makes specific cuts to programs designed to combat climate change, promote energy efficiency and spur renewable energy research and development.

“Through my work in the private sector and as an entrepreneur, I learned the importance of making smart investments in cutting-edge technologies,” DelBene said. “No business would make drastic cuts in research and development – it’s shortsighted and compromises our ability to create 21st century jobs. Smart investments in science-driven research yield profound returns that will save our country money in the long run and boost the economy.”

H.R. 1806 passed in a 217-205 vote on Wednesday and now heads to the Senate for further action.
