Energy Efficiency Leaders To Gather For EE Global Forum In Copenhagen

WASHINGTON – (RealEstateRama) — The Alliance to Save Energy will convene the 11th annual Energy Efficiency Global Forum (EE Global) – the premier international energy efficiency conference – in Copenhagen May 21-22, 2018, the organization announced Friday. EE Global brings together hundreds of energy efficiency leaders from the private, public and non-profit sectors across the world to drive the next generation of progress in improving energy productivity.

The forum, which is organized by a steering committee of international energy efficiency leaders, is recognized around the world as the most important and impactful efficiency gathering of the year. This is the first time in seven years that the event will be held outside the United States and the first time ever that it will be held in Denmark

Focused on the theme of Energy Efficiency: Innovation, Investment, Impact, EE Global 2018 is organized by the Alliance to Save Energy and the Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency, and supported by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The conference will be held during the Nordic Clean Energy Week and immediately before the annual Clean Energy Ministerial, also in Copenhagen, allowing leaders in the field to attend both events. This year’s forum will highlight timely questions including how to speed the transfer of leading energy efficiency practices to the cities and countries of the developing world, so that uptake is accelerated toward the Sustainable Development Goals.

Alliance President Kateri Callahan said: “EE Global has been a catalyst for action on energy efficiency policies, programs and investment globally but this year’s event promises to be more impactful than ever as we will have the ‘ear’ not only of the world’s business, academic and policy leaders but also of all of the energy ministers and other officials from countries across the world who will be attending the CEM. With a strong partnership forged between the Copenhagen Centre and the Danish government, EE Global 2018 is poised to be a central and influential pillar of Nordic Clean Energy Week, drawing attention to energy efficiency, the cheapest, quickest and most abundant resource available to tackle global climate change.”

Mark Lister, Head of the Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency, said: “As an organization focused on accelerating energy efficiency globally, we are honored to organize a gathering of global leaders in this field and to accelerate energy efficiency for our developing world partners. Governments, the private sector and civil society have worked together to achieve tremendous energy savings – and we think it’s just the beginning of the progress ahead.”

Ulla Tørnæs, Danish Minister for Development Cooperation, said: “Denmark has been a champion of energy efficiency for the past four decades – at home through energy efficiency measures and energy savings in both domestic and industrial contexts, and abroad through our development assistance and clean-tech industry. We are delighted to support the Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency and this worldwide forum, where the next generation of efficiency advances will be plotted in order to contribute to sustainable energy for all.”
