October 22, 2009 Posted by Alliance for Homebuyer Justice
October 22, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) — The Alliance for Homebuyer Justice and LIUNA will ask homebuilding corporations - including the nation’s largest, Pulte Homes Inc. - to adopt 10 principles to improve the industry for builders, workers and buyers. Principles include ensuring that homebuyers have access to affordable mortgages independent of builders, that the men and women who build homes are paid a living wage, provided with safety and health training, and are free to join together to improve their jobs and lives, and that builders help curb speculative investors. Principles also include measures to ensure that homebuilders assist communities affected by foreclosures and work with homeowners to modify existing mortgages held by their in-house lenders. All leading corporate builders - KB Home and Lennar, in addition to Pulte Home - will be asked to adopt the principles.
