WASHINGTON, D.C. – May 1, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — Today, Representative Steven Horsford (NV-4) formally joined two subcommittees as a new member of the House Financial Services Committee. He will serve on the Housing and Insurance Subcommittee and the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee.

“My subcommittee assignments will allow me to be a strong voice for Nevada’s middle class and to work with local and national leaders to help keep families in their homes,” Horsford said. “Southern Nevada remains the most unstable housing market in the country, and working on legislation to help homeowners will be my top priority.”

The Housing and Insurance Subcommittee handles a number of policy areas, including: public, affordable, and rural housing; regulation of the housing industry; community development and community and neighborhood planning; private mortgage insurance; insurance generally; terrorism risk insurance; and government sponsored insurance programs.

The Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee conducts oversight of the agencies, departments, and programs under the committee’s jurisdiction. The subcommittee also conducts investigations on any matter within the jurisdiction of the committee, and evaluates the need for any legislative changes to the laws and programs within this jurisdiction.
