HUD AND JUSTICE DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCE NEW EFFORTS TO EASE TRANSITION FROM PRISON AND EXPAND...

As part of President Obama’s efforts to promote rehabilitation and reintegration for the formerly incarcerated, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) today announced $1.7 million for Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) to aid eligible public housing residents who are under the age of 24 to expunge or seal their records in accordance with their applicable state laws

Longridge Knolls storm water pond repair project to begin

A Howard County construction project to repair a storm water pond on Davis Road in the vicinity of Roundtree Lane in Columbia is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, November 16. The project will include replacement of the pond’s metal outlet riser, which has eroded, with a new concrete outlet riser. Also, the steel outfall pipe, which connects the riser to outlet the pond, will be replaced with a concrete pipe. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late December 2015

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced today that USDA is investing $3.7 million to help rural families repair and rehabilitate their homes. 7 Years After the Housing Crash, Nearly 1,000 U.S. Counties Present Increasing or Stagnating...

A comprehensive new analysis released today by the Center for American Progress reveals that more than seven years after the housing crash, nearly 1,000 U.S. counties continue to present increasing or stagnating percentages of underwater homes. There are also 600 additional counties that are beginning to see some improvement, though they still feature high percentages of underwater homes. This positive trend could be derailed if there is an uptick in the number of foreclosures in these counties.
