Marchant Votes to Block President’s Clean Power Plan

WASHINGTON, D.C. – December 02, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The House today passed S.J. Res 23 and S.J. Res 24, two bills that would block harmful Obama Administration regulations on energy producers. Specifically, the bills utilize the Congressional Review Act to prohibit the administration from issuing the same or substantively similar regulations without legislation from Congress. This would halt implementation of the president’s “Clean Power Plan” and additional regulations on new power plants.

U.S. Congressman Kenny Marchant (TX-24) issued the following statement after supporting the passage of both bills:

“The president has subverted the legislative process to impose massive regulations on new and existing power plants. These rules will hinder energy production, destroy jobs, and drive up energy costs for American families. Under the Congressional Review Act, Congress has a chance to stop this executive overreach in its tracks. I voted to do that today and will continue working to protect the families and employers of my district from the president’s misguided regulatory regime.”

S.J. Res 23 passed the House by a vote of 235-188. S.J. Res 24 passed 242-180.
