MBA Honors Guy Johnson of Johnson Capital Group with Inaugural “Be A Leader” Award

San Diego, CA – February 6, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) today presented Guy Johnson, President of Johnson Capital Group, Inc., with its first ever “Be A Leader” award at the Association’s 23rd annual Commercial Real Estate Finance(CREF)/Multifamily Housing Convention & Expo held in San Diego, CA. Brian F. Stoffers, CMB, President, CBRE Debt & Equity Finance and Chair of MBA’s Commercial Real Estate/Multifamily Finance Board of Governors (COMBOG) presented the award to Johnson in recognition of his commitment to member outreach to the commercial/multifamily real estate finance industry.

“Guy is a leader in the real estate finance industry and I am pleased to present him with MBA’s first ever Be A Leader Award,” said MBA Chairman Debra W. Still, CMB. “I applaud Guy’s commitment to growing MBA’s membership and strengthening the real estate finance industry.”

In 2012, COMBOG established the “Be A Leader” campaign, which encourages Board members to attract industry leaders to join MBA across all sectors of the real estate finance industry.

Guy Johnson has been a member of MBA for 15 years and has been actively engaged in critical discussions regarding the future of the commercial/multifamily business. Since 1997, he has been a participating member on numerous MBA committees, serving most recently as Vice Chairman of MBA’s Origination Council. He is also a current member of COMBOG, having served since 2009.

In addition to his work with the MBA, Johnson owns Johnson Capital Group, Inc., a leading commercial real estate capital advisory firm based in Irvine, California with regional offices throughout the country. He has previously held senior level positions at Weyerhaeuser Mortgage Company and within Union Bank’s commercial lending department, as well as the national real estate accounting firm, Kenneth Leventhal & Company (now Ernst & Young).

He is serving as a board member of the UCLA Richard S. Ziman Center for Real Estate and has been a member of the University of Southern California’s Lusk School Board of Advisors. Johnson holds a B.S. in accounting from the University of Southern California and an M.B.A. from Loyola University.
