Mike Drews of Aurora Installed as President of the Illinois Association of REALTORS®

WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 22, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — REALTOR® Mike Drews, GRI, of Aurora has been installed as the 2016 President of the Illinois Association of REALTORS®. He is a Broker-Associate with Charles B. Doss & Co. in Aurora.
Active in the real estate industry since 1979, Drews has donated his time and expertise to the REALTOR® organization at the local, state and national level. A past president of the Mainstreet Organization of REALTORS®, he also has served as chairman of various local committees. He was named REALTOR® of the Year in 2011 by the Mainstreet Organization of REALTORS® and REALTOR® Associate of the Year in 1990 by the Greater Aurora Association of REALTORS®.

For the Illinois Association of REALTORS® (IAR), Drews has served on numerous committees and working groups including: the Executive, Finance, Broker/Lawyer Liaison and Strategic Planning committees and the Professional Development Member Involvement Group.
On the statewide and national level, Drews has been committed to the issue of industry ethics and professional standards. He is a three-time chair of the IAR Professional Standards Committee and has served repeated appointments as a member of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Professional Standards Committee.

In 2011, Drews was awarded the IAR Political Involvement Award honoring members who have shown outstanding achievement in the political and legislative activities of the REALTOR® association and grassroots involvement. He is a Major Investor to the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) and is a member of NAR’s President’s Circle. He serves as the Federal Political Coordinator for Congressman Randy Hultgren and is the key State Legislative Contact for State Representative Keith Wheeler. Drews chaired the IAR REALTORS® Political Involvement Committee in 2011 and has been a member of NAR’s REALTORS® Political Involvement Committee, now known as the REALTOR® Party Member Involvement Committee, since 2008.

In 2016, Drews will serve as chair of the IAR Executive Committee, the NAR Political Advisory Working Group, IAR’s Strategic Thinkers Working Group and will lead the state association’s Board of Directors. Nationally, he serves on the NAR Board of Directors, the Professional Standards Committee, the Professional Standards Interpretations and Procedures Advisory Board, the Real Property Valuation Committee and the REALTOR® Party Member Involvement Committee.

Drews is a graduate of Western Illinois University and has earned the Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI) professional designation. Active in his local community, he has served on the board of directors for the Aurora Family YMCA and is active with the Aurora Noon Rotary Club and the New England Congregational Church. He and his wife, Kay, live in Aurora and are the parents of two grown children and have three grandchildren.
Installation ceremonies were conducted at the Illinois Association of REALTORS® Inaugural Gala on Oct. 6 at the Hilton Chicago/Oak Brook Hills Resort in Oak Brook, Illinois. Other 2016 officers installed were President-elect Doug Carpenter, ABR, AHWD, SFR, Managing Broker of Coldwell Banker Honig-Bell in Orland Hills, and Treasurer Matt Difanis, ABR, a co-owner of RE/MAX Realty Associates in Champaign.

The Illinois Association of REALTORS® is a voluntary trade association whose 43,000 members are engaged in all facets of the real estate industry. In addition to serving the professional needs of its members, the Illinois Association of REALTORS® works to protect the rights of private property owners in the state by recommending and promoting legislation which safeguards and advances the interest of real property ownership.
