WASHINGTON, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) — The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) has announced the finalists for its 2017 Best of 55+ Housing Awards, the premier design and marketing competition for the 55+ housing industry. A total of 74 entries were chosen as finalists and are eligible for either a gold or silver award from NAHB’s 55+ Housing Industry Council. Those winners will be announced on Jan. 10, 2017, during the NAHB International Builders’ Show in Orlando, Fla.
“Whether retired or not, boomers want to stay healthy and physically active,” said Jim Chapman, chairman of NAHB’s 55+ Housing Industry Council and president of Jim Chapman Communities in Atlanta. “Builders are incorporating amenities that appeal to such buyers, like hiking and biking trails, extensive fitness centers and community kitchens that can host cooking classes. And boomers’ tastes are moving the design needle just a bit further from traditional style and closer to a clean, modern style with bold splashes of color.”
Finalists were selected from entries in 39 categories representing single-family homes, rental housing, service-enriched housing, lifestyle features that 55+ buyers look for and marketing activity, plus four categories representing individuals and firms. The judges also singled out three entries for innovation awards.
NAHB’s 55+ Housing Council launched the Best of 55+ Housing Awards to encourage quality and innovation in the 55+ housing market. The council provides information, education and networking opportunities for its members and provides advocacy support to NAHB on key 55+ housing issues. The awards program is sponsored by: Professional Builder, RMF, BartonPartners, BSB Design, Homeward Bath, KTGY Architecture + Planning, BuildersDesign, Progress Lighting and Ideal Living.
