Neighborhood Housing Services of Los Angeles County (NHS) Kicks Off NeighborWorks Week with A Neighborhood Pride Day In Sun Valley, CA to Beautify A Residential Block

Los Angeles, CA – May 31, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — On June 1 NeighborWorks America will launch NeighborWorks Week which is a   week-long celebration where thousands of volunteers come together to help make their neighborhoods healthy, sustainable places for families to work and play together and also call home. NHS is one of the 235 national charter members of NeighborWorks America and is kicking off NeighborWorks Week by hosting a Neighborhood Pride Day in Sun Valley, CA on Saturday, June 1, 2013. NHS is partnering up with the Sun Valley Area Neighborhood Council, local businesses, volunteers, local government and residents to make this a fun and exciting event for the neighborhood.

Since 1984, NHS has hosted Neighborhood Pride Day events throughout Los Angeles County. NHS neighborhood resource coordinators have been busy coordinating one event per month throughout neighborhoods in the Los Angeles County for this year.  “Neighborhood revitalization activities like these have always been critical to the well-being of our communities,” said Lori Gay, President and CEO of NHS.  “These events are essential to restore the quality of life to neighborhoods that has been weakened by economic hardship.”  The work done during Neighborhood Pride Day creates a visible difference in the appearance of the neighborhood.  This helps to attract new homeowners and allows existing residents to see that progress is taking place in their community and helps build pride again for residents.

Join us at our fourth Neighborhood Pride Day in 2013 and support our effort to provide families with minor home repairs, bulky item removal, light landscaping and exterior house painting.  The houses chosen showed signs of deferred maintenance and without the help of NHS they may have not been able to afford these home improvements.  This free service is offered to families in Los Angeles County during Neighborhood Pride Day. Homes are chosen on the same street to create a visible improvement in the community and to help strengthen neighborhood pride.
