NMHC Hosts Student Housing Conference September 22

Student housing remains one of the hottest niche sectors in the apartment industry as echo boomers begin to flood the campuses of universities that do not have the resources to expand their housing supply. Called “recession-proof” by many, student housing offers private apartment developers and operators new opportunities to tap into this demand and connect with future residents of the conventional apartment sector.

The National Multi Housing Council (NMHC) will explore these opportunities in its sixth annual Student Housing Conference on September 22 in Washington, DC. The event, the longest-standing student housing conference, is open to NMHC members and non-members.

Designed to shorten the learning curve for newcomers and to provide seasoned student housing professionals with an overview of current market conditions and emerging trends, the NMHC Student Housing Conference has become a “must attend” event for anyone interested in student housing. The event brings together leading owners, developers, lenders, brokers and university partners.

Topics to be covered include: the state of the industry; recent deals; technology and student housing; capital market conditions; building or rehabilitating student properties; and “do’s and don’ts” from the student’s perspective.

NMHC will release a comprehensive new research report at the event as well; an analysis of rent trends for on-campus housing costs at 160 universities and how they correlate to rental trends in the private student housing market.

The Student Housing Conference will also feature an off-campus property tour and an interactive pre-conference workshop evaluating student housing property web sites using a unique new Student Housing Web Site Evaluator tool.
