President Announces Training 75,000 Solar Workers With Help of the SITN

Latham, NY – April 3, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — President Barack Obama announced today a new goal to train 75,000 workers by 2020 for the growing solar energy industry, including military veterans.

IREC, as national administrator of the Solar Instructor Training Network (SITN), works with community colleges and other training organizations across the country to ramp up quality solar training that meets the needs of today’s and tomorrow’s clean energy jobs. IREC works with nine SITN regional training providers and industry to build and grow a qualified, job-ready solar workforce that matches training to evolving industry needs.

30,000 — estimated # of students who have received some solar training from SITN institutions (as of June 2014)

In recent months, IREC has worked closely with the U.S. Department of Energy to help launch a veteran solar training program on which the president also expanded today.
