“What Moves You?” Wins MarCom Platinum Awards

DENVER, CO – December 21, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — RE/MAX LLC has earned three prestigious Platinum MarCom Awards for the 2012 “What Moves You?” social media campaign, the first integrated social media campaign launched by a national real estate franchise.

“What Moves You?” earned top honors from MarCom for Social Media Site Web Design, Public Relations/Social Media Campaign and overall Social Media Site. More than 6,000 entries were submitted for the annual awards, which were created to honor excellence and recognize creativity by marketing and communications professionals.

“The response to this contest was more than we could have imagined; we were overwhelmed by the impact it made,” said RE/MAX CEO Margaret Kelly. “RE/MAX has a global reputation for our professional agents, but this ground-breaking social media campaign allowed us to engage our loyal fans and clients in a completely different and meaningful way. We’re very proud of this campaign and of these distinguished awards.”

“What Moves You?” was designed to complement the 2012 RE/MAX national ad campaign “For All the Things that Move You®.” The nine-week contest that launched on May 29 encouraged consumers to share pivotal life moments with a story, photo or video on the microsite whatmovesyou.remax.com. Voters chose weekly favorites who were awarded Apple gift cards, and the overall grand-prize winner claimed $10,000.

The heartfelt, captivating stories were shared widely via social networks, and they racked up more than 140,000 visits to the microsite and more than 70,000 total votes.

Grand-prize winner Monica May of St. Louis posted a story and photo of her granddaughter Sophie May, who continues to battle Neuroblastoma at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. The story, “Sweet Sophie May,” claimed more than 10,000 votes and invaluable encouragement for the 2-year-old and her family.

“This is more important to us than any amount of money we could receive. The support from everyone has been amazing,” said Monica May.

Among the other grand-prize finalists were stories of hope and inspiration about living with autism, overcoming economic hardship, achieving homeownership, family ties that bind and surviving cancer. For every story submitted, RE/MAX made a contribution to longtime partner Children’s Miracle Network Hospital®.

The MarCom Awards are administered by The Association of Marketing and Communications, and winners are determined by an independent panel of experts.
