COLUMBIA, S.C. – November 6, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — South Carolina REALTORS® (SCR), in partnership with the National Association of REALTORS® continues to offer assistance to South Carolina’s flood victims through the REALTORS® Relief Foundation (RRF). The foundation began accepting applications in mid-October for mortgage or rent relief up to $1,000 to those who qualify. To-date, individual Realtors® and Realtor® associations in South Carolina and across the country have donated $470,000 to the RRF to help South Carolina flood victims.

The relief is available to South Carolina residents who have suffered property damage to their primary residence as a result of the severe flooding event that took place in October 2015. Assistance is available to qualified applicants for one of the following options: 1) Monthly mortgage expense for the primary residence or; 2) Cost of temporary shelter due to displacement from the primary residence resulting from the October 2015 floods. Relief assistance is limited to $1,000 per applicant and one grant per residence.

“We are happy to announce that we’ve already distributed over $30,000 in relief. We’re getting applications in every day and are working hard to process them,” said SCR 2015 President Fritzi Barbour.

In order to qualify, applicants must submit the application in its entirety and provide supplemental materials and proof of damages. Assistance is being provided on a first come, first serve basis. The deadline for application submission is November 30, 2015. SCR asks that applicants wait to be notified regarding their applications.

“SCR is so grateful to all of those who have donated to the REALTORS® Relief Foundation,” said Barbour.
