Final report released from independent audit conducted by CNA Analysis and Solutions.

BOP – March 26, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — During fiscal year 2014, the Bureau of Prisons underwent an independent audit of policies and practices related to restricted housing, following a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing chaired by Senator Richard J. Durbin (D-IL). This Special Housing Unit Review and Assessment Project was conducted by a team from CNA Analysis and Solutions under a contract with the Bureau of Prisons.

The review was designed to assess the Bureau’s use of restricted housing (SHUs, SMUs, and the ADX); identify best practices; and identify potential improvements in practice and policy. The information in this review will be of great assistance to the Bureau as we continue to find ways to accomplish our mission effectively and efficiently.

The final report is available here. The Bureau’s response is available here.
