Washington, DC - August 17, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) — Mayor Adrian M. Fenty on Friday announced the District has implemented the District’s Inclusionary Zoning program, which affords private sector development companies the right to additional density for their projects in exchange for making at least 8 percent of the units in the project affordable.

San Francisco, CA - June 1, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) — The Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco today awarded $30.3 million in Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grants in the first round of the 2009 competition. The AHP grants, awarded to 42 projects that address the unique needs of individual communities, will produce 2,558 affordable housing units in Arizona, California, Illinois, Nevada, Texas, and Washington.

May 3, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) — In response to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, FEMA conducted the largest temporary housing operation in the history of the country, providing temporary housing units to more than 143,000 families across the Gulf Coast. Additionally, FEMA has provided more than $7.8 billion in housing and other needs assistance (e.g. transportation, clothing, furniture) to roughly 1.5 million households affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
