Mobile, Ala – October 16, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The City of Mobile and Mobile Arc officially opened four, new homes that will serve adults with development and intellectual disabilities. The City partnered with Mobile Arc to develop a 4-unit apartment complex located at 900 McCay Avenue using plans and specifications approved by the City.

“Because of innovative planning and thoughtful collaboration, these homes will meet the need for people with disabilities who want to live more independently and require less assistance than the level provided in other group homes,” said Mayor Stimpson. “Congratulations to all the partners involved in completing this welcome addition to Mobile.”

Two of the units contain two bedrooms and the other two units contain three bedrooms. All four units are ADA compliant and will be City HOME-assisted rental housing. These homes will be made available to households earning up to 60% of the Area Median Income.

“We at the Mobile Arc are excited about these newest residences developed through the HOME Investment Partnership Program with the City of Mobile’s and Arbour Valley Development,” said Jeff Zoghby, Mobile Arc Executive Director. “These homes will give people with disabilities opportunities for accessible housing previously unavailable to them.”

This $836,000 project was funded through Federal dollars provided to the City under the HOME Program agreement with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Mayor Stimpson, Mobile Arc Executive Director Jeff Zoghby and other City officials unveiled the new homes during a special ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday.
