The MacArthur Foundation and the Urban Land Institute Unveil Affordable Housing Resource Platform

-

WASHINGTON, D.C. – February 25, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The MacArthur Foundation and the Urban Land Institute (ULI) recently launched a new online resource designed to explore the links between quality affordable housing and tangible social benefits, including public health, educational performance, and economic stability.  The digital platform is intended to provide a user-friendly resource portal combining interdisciplinary research papers, reports, news, and original stories in a way that informs and promotes action for affordable housing.

The online resource platform, How Housing Matters, is the product of a five-year, $25 million research initiative intended to expand the literature and understanding of affordable housing and its connection to social and economic outcomes.  Funding was awarded to 40 research projects that examined a wide variety of social and economic issues and their relation to affordable housing.  The ULI Terwilliger Center for Housing, which will manage the online portal, will use the platform to promote new collaborations between the housing industry and the public health, education, and economic development fields.
