WASHINGTON, D.C. – May 22, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — Representative Daniel Webster (FL-10) issued the following statement following his vote in favor of the Conference Report to Accompany H.R. 3080, Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA) of 2014, which passed the House of Representatives by a 412-4 vote today:

“Focused on creating jobs and building our economic investments, the Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA) passed the House of Representatives with overwhelmingly bipartisan support. The WRRDA bill is good for American workers, good for the American economy, and good for Florida.

“Florida’s water resources are a competitive advantage that we must responsibly develop. Investing in our ports, harbors and other water infrastructure will expand our economic footprint, create jobs and help us compete to be the crossroads of international trade for our region. This bill deepens our channels, maintains our ports, partners with our state government, and prepares us for the completion of the expansion of the Panama Canal. The bill will have a positive effect on those who manufacture goods, import or export products, ship containers or aggregates, retail consumer merchandise, or work in any of these industries. The WRRDA bill is an investment our economy that will benefit everyone in the State of Florida.

“I call upon the Senate to take up and pass this legislation without delay, and for the President to sign it into law as soon as it gets to his desk.”

Webster is a member of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, where the WRRDA bill originated, and was appointed by Speaker Boehner to be part of the Conference Committee that worked with the Senate to finalize the legislation that passed today.
