Jane Palmieri Announced As New Co-Chair To Lead Alliance To Save Energy’s Board

WASHINGTON, D.C. – April 27, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The Alliance to Save Energy’s (Alliance) Board of Directors elected Jane Palmieri, business president of Dow Building and Construction at The Dow Chemical Company, to serve as Industry Co-Chair. Palmieri is the first woman to hold this post and the Alliance’s top three leadership positions are now all held by women: Palmieri, Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Alliance President Kateri Callahan. Palmieri replaces Jorge Carrasco as Co-Chair, who is retiring from his position as General Manager and CEO at Seattle City Light and therefore resigning his seat on the Alliance Board.

“I am thrilled to enhance my commitment to the Alliance and its vital mission of promoting energy efficiency across industries,” Jane Palmieri said. “It has been a pleasure to serve on the Alliance’s Board over the past couple of years, and this new appointment comes at a time when there are exciting opportunities to promote energy efficiency as a cornerstone of American energy policy.”

Palmieri has held a variety of positions at Dow since 1995, and no matter the role, smart energy solutions have always been a priority. Palmieri was responsible for the strategic direction and commercialization of Dow’s first line of residential solar products and has led efforts to make energy-efficient products available in markets across the States.

On Palmieri’s appointment to the Alliance’s leadership, Honorary Chair Senator Jeanne Shaheen said, “All of us involved with the Alliance’s work welcome Jane’s appointment, which is sure to add strength to the organization. I expect the Alliance to thrive with her guidance, and am confident that she will help foster new successes in energy efficiency policy.”

“Jane’s dedication to energy efficiency and her industry expertise make her a perfect fit to help lead our Board,” said Alliance President Kateri Callahan. “Combined with her 18 years of storied leadership at Dow and her forward-looking vision of a sustainable energy economy, we are thrilled to work more closely with Jane going forward. We conversely appreciate Jorge’s Board leadership, and want to express great appreciation and admiration for his work as a longtime advocate for energy productivity. The Alliance joins together in wishing him much success in future endeavors.”

Carrasco said, “The Alliance has both short and long-term opportunities to advance energy efficiency within the national policy debate, and I look forward to following the organization’s successes over the coming months and years.”

In addition, the Alliance elected Kevin Self, vice president of strategy & corporate development at Johnson Controls to the important post of chairing its Board Development Committee. The Alliance’s Development Committee provides guidance and support to the staff and Board regarding new and strategic funding sources, growth areas and partnership opportunities. “At a time with increasing opportunities to institute energy efficient practices across industries, I am looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and providing development support for the Alliance to ensure the organization can function at its absolute best,” Self said.
