KTGY Principals to Speak at NAHB International Builders’ Show (IBS) on Latest Design & Building Trends
Building Success Amidst Escalating Construction Costs, Big Ideas for Active Adult Communities, and Design Ideas that Sell
IRVINE, CALIF. WASHINGTON, D.C. – January 20, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — Award-winning KTGY Group, Inc., Architecture + Planning, is pleased to announce that two KTGY principals, Rohit Anand, AIA, NCARB, and Manny Gonzalez, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, have been invited to speak at the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) International Builders’ Show (IBS) held February 4-6, 2014, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. Anand and Gonzalez are frequent guest speakers and panelists at the most prestigious national and regional industry events.
On Tuesday, February 4, Anand will moderate the session, “Building Success Amidst Escalating Construction Costs,” from 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Panelists include Rick Morris, senior vice president of AvalonBay Communities, Inc.; Berdj Benlian, vice president of JPMorgan Asset Management Real Estate; and Dan Markson, senior vice president of The NRP Group LLC. Escalating construction costs have put the brake on many entitled and financed multifamily developments. Attendees will learn how to effectively manage rising costs to move a project forward.
Gonzalez will moderate the session, “45 Big Ideas for Active Adult Communities,” on Wednesday, February 5, from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Additional speakers include Deborah Blake, principal of The Ipsum Group LLC; Doris Pearlman, president of Possibilities for Design, Inc.; and Andrew Wong, regional vice president of strategic marketing of Pulte Homes. In this interactive, fast-paced session, the four industry experts will explore 15 unique aspects of the active adult market and share 45 cutting-edge ideas to improve your design, sales and profits. Topics covered will include floor plans, indoor and outdoor amenities, best use of color, energy efficient features and more.
Additionally, Gonzalez will participate as a panelist in the session, “Design Ideas that Sell,” on Thursday, February 6, from 12:15 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. Gonzalez will join Professional Builder editors Pat O’Toole and Denise Dersin as they, along with a panel of distinguished architects and consultants, review some of the best new design ideas from around the country. This thought-provoking seminar offers real ideas that attendees can take back to their local market.
Gonzalez will also be a featured participant in the Architectural Plan Review Workshop 1 on February 4, from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. In this one-on-one workshop, Gonalez will spend 25 minutes reviewing individual house plans and provide each attendee with creative ideas for changing or expanding the house plans in order to better meet the needs and expectations of today’s home buyers.
A senior partner in KTGY’s Santa Monica, Calif. office, Gonzalez is responsible for the design, land planning, and production of residential and mixed-use developments throughout the U.S., including active adult and affordable multi-family communities. In his more than 25 years of practice in residential development, Gonzalez has won numerous awards for his outstanding designs. Gonzalez received his 9th Gold and 13th overall NAHB 50+ Housing Award, which was for Heritage Oaks. This project was also honored with the Special Innovation Award for its “Garage.”
Anand, an award-winning architect, is the managing principal in KTGY’s Tysons, Va. office. Anand brings more than 25 years of professional achievement in leading the design of multifamily residential developments primarily in the mid-Atlantic and major East Coast markets. Anand’s experience includes the design of more than 25,000 market rate residential units ranging from for-rent and for-sale multifamily units to single-family attached and detached homes. A recognized industry authority and trend-setter, he is adept at providing product positioning advice and efficient construction systems that help meet a developer’s proforma.
