NAHB Professional Women in Building Names Katherine Higgins as Member of the Year

WASHINGTON, D.C. – January 23, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Katherine Higgins, showroom sales and design consultant of Alabama Brick Delivery Inc. in Birmingham, Ala., has been honored as the Member of the Year for the Professional Women in Building Council of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

Professional Women in Building members work in all aspects of the building industry—as owners, builders, remodelers, architects, suppliers, marketing experts, designers and in finance and real estate.

After serving several years on the Greater Birmingham Association of Home Builders Board, in 2014 Higgins became the president of the PWB council and will serve a second term in 2015. In addition to her role as PWB president, Higgins has been nominated to serve a three-year term on the Associate Board.

She has made a major impact on her local association by leading new events such as a chili cook-off, a networking event and a Habit for Humanity luncheon which all garnered positive results for the association. Higgins also took it upon herself to create a monthly e-newsletter to keep members updated on PWB news and events. She is also very active on social media, which has increased the exposure of her local association and PWB.

“Katherine’s stellar work ethic and positive attitude have greatly contributed to the success of her local PWB council,” said 2014 NAHB PWB Chair Carol Morgan, who presented the award during the 2015 NAHB International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas. “We are extremely proud to have Katherine as part of our association.”
