Home Builders Win Building Systems Design Competition

WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 4, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Building Systems Councils (BSC) bestowed 20 awards to leading national systems-built industry manufacturers and home builders at its annual Showcase event held Oct. 1 – 2 at the NAHB Housing Center in Washington, D.C. The 2013 Jerry Rouleau Awards for Excellence in Marketing and Home Design were awarded to those who demonstrated high achievement in home design and marketing materials.

The building systems community is comprised of the manufacturers of concrete, log, modular and panelized homes, as well as those who supply components to the industry and builders who finish the homes onsite. Recipients of the BSC’s awards were recognized for excellence in a range of categories from informative and aesthetically-pleasing websites to floor plan designs categorized by systems-built type and square footage.

“We are proud to honor the year’s best marketing and home designs in the systems-built industry,” said 2012 BSC Chairman Dwight Hikel, owner of Shelter Systems Ltd. in Westminster, Md. “Despite going through tough economic times over the past several years, these award recipients have persevered and created nationally recognized projects that are sure to stand out to consumers.”

The marketing award winners are: Honest Abe Log Homes of Moss, Tenn.; Ritz-Craft Corporation of Mifflinburg, Pa.; Simplex Industries of Scranton, Pa.; and Tony Hirst Builders, LLC of Kittrell, N.C.

The home design winners are: Tony Hirst Builder, LLC of Kittrell, N.C.; Epoch Homes of Pembroke, N.H.; Southland Log Homes of Irmo, S.C.; Stonemill Log & Timber Homes of Knoxville, Tenn.; PrecisionCraft of Meridian, Idaho; Log Homes of America of Jefferson, N.C; Ritz-Craft Corporation of Mifflinburg, Pa.; and Signature Building Systems of PA in Moosic, Pa.

The Jerry Rouleau Awards for Excellence were presented at the BSC’s “Showcase24,”—the only national conference and educational event focused exclusively on the systems-built industry. The awards are named in honor of the late BSC member, Jerry Rouleau, a residential-housing marketing authority and longtime advocate of using building systems in new home construction.

Select projects will be on display on the BSC’s Awards Wall during the NAHB International Builders’ Show (IBS), Jan. 22 – 24, 2013, in Las Vegas. IBS is the largest annual light construction tradeshow in the world.
