WASHINGTON, D.C. – February 6, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and BUILDER Magazine today unveiled The New American Home 2014, the official show home of the International Builders’ Show (IBS).
Now in its 31st year, The New American Home (TNAH) 2014 is constructed annually in conjunction with the IBS to showcase innovative construction technologies, emerging design trends and the latest building products. NAHB and Hanley Wood’s BUILDER Magazine co-produce the show home. The showcase products in the home are provided by members of the NAHB Leading Suppliers Council.
TNAH 2014 is rising out of the foothills of the exclusive Sky Terrace development in Henderson, Nev., where the 6,700-square-foot show home will serve as a construction technology laboratory when it opens to show attendees for tours during the show. Oriented on a T-shaped lot to make the most of natural sunlight while minimizing solar heat gain, the home takes full advantage of the spectacular desert views and the Las Vegas Strip while offering cutting-edge energy efficiency and sustainability. The home is expected to achieve Emerald status under the National Green Building Standard (NGBS). Other anticipated certifications for TNAH include Energy Star, EPA and Indoor airPLUS.
Architect Jeff Berkus of Aspen-based Jeffrey Berkus Associates is the architect of record for the home, which was initially commissioned to and designed by his late father, legendary architect Barry Berkus, who died unexpectedly at the outset of the project. Interiors, led by Marc Thee and his team at Marc-Michaels Interior Design of Winter Park, Fla. are a clean approach to organic and comfortable living with a warm palette that embraces the new neutrals. Builder Josh Anderson and his team at Element Building Company have brought to life design trends that recognize how homebuyers want to live today.
Shuttle bus service to the home from the Las Vegas Convention Center will be available daily beginning Tuesday, February 4 through Thursday February 6 from 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Buses departing from the show home to the convention center will be available from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
