Regional experts join Neighborhood Housing Services of Los Angeles County and local residents to host Neighborhood Sustainability Symposium

-

Los Angeles, CA – October 7, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — On October 11th hundreds of Angeleno’s will come together to engage in workshops and seminars to learn about how they can contribute to making neighborhoods in the region more healthy and sustainable places for the purposes of enhancing the quality of life for residents. This all-day, family-friendly symposium will explore the emerging role of resilient and sustainable communities, healthy neighborhoods, transportation, education, green development, and financial empowerment within the region. The symposium will feature workshops, on-site cooking demonstrations, vendor booths, high profile experts, and national speakers like Urban Gardening activist, Ron Finley and others.

Neighborhood Housing Services of Los Angeles County (NHS) has successfully implemented and carried out sustainable practices in neighborhoods by hosting monthly neighborhood revitalization events, establishing community gardens, and by rehabilitating thousands of homes to green standards.

However, with climate change, population growth, and increasing pressures on natural resources, NHS has joined a coalition of organizations to re-establish and re-define their commitment to new and innovative sustainability practices. As NHS is working to launch a number of exciting new neighborhood-driven sustainability initiatives, improving economic stability, creating healthier neighborhoods and expanding opportunities in low income areas throughout Los Angeles County will be the focus of the symposium.
