Chairman Becerra: No More Stopgaps, Pass A Long Term Highway Bill

-

WASHINGTON, D.C. – May 20, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Today, Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-34), Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, released the following statement after voting against legislation (H.R. 2353) that fails to secure long-term funding for our nation’s aging infrastructure:

“In the wealthiest nation on Earth, there is no excuse for so many crumbling roads and bridges. Despite having ten months to work with Democrats to craft bipartisan legislation to build our roads, bridges and mass transit systems, House Republicans waited until the last minute to bring forward yet another two-month stopgap “patch” bill. You wouldn’t run even the smallest business on Main Street this way, so why run the largest economy in the world like a two-bit operation?

“It’s time to govern and get things done — not for two months, but for the long term. This uncertainty causes a drag on our economic growth and job creation. America wants solutions, not two-month excuses.”
