WASHINGTON, D.C. – November 20, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Alcee L. Hastings (D-FL) made the following statement regarding National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week:

“There are thousands of men, women, and children in our country that go without food or shelter every single day. In marking National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, we must remind ourselves that there is much we can do to provide for homeless individuals across this nation. Those in our country who do not have a home or live in poverty deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

“As the Co-Founder and Co-Chair of the Congressional Homelessness Caucus, I believe that eradicating homelessness in America must be a top priority for Congress and our country. We have made great progress towards this goal, but far too many people still go without the basic securities of food and shelter.

“I will continue to do all that I can in Congress to work toward a world where no person has to experience hunger or homelessness. As a nation we must strengthen our resolve to fight to end homelessness once and for all.”

Congressman Alcee L. Hastings serves as Senior Member of the House Rules Committee, Ranking Democratic Member of the U.S. Helsinki Commission, and Co-Chairman of the Florida Delegation.
