WASHINGTON, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) – The Mortgage Bankers Association’s (MBA) Krystal Thomas, Government Program Specialist, and Andrea Oh, Policy Advisor, were recognized by Women in Housing and Finance, Inc. (WHF) as a 2019 winner of its WHF 40 under 40 award. The awards were presented to Thomas and Oh on June 11 at WHF’s 40th Anniversary Celebration Reception at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington.

“Krystal and Andrea are rising women leaders who bring passion to their work and have achieved great success for MBA and its members. They are well-deserving of being recognized by WHF as a 40 under 40 award winner,” said Marcia Davies, MBA Chief Operating Officer and founder of mPower, MBA Promoting Opportunities for Women to Extend their Reach. “Empowering women in the housing finance industry is a top priority at MBA, and I applaud WHF for celebrating Krystal and Andrea’s achievements and putting together an awards program that celebrates the young women who are excelling in their positions and becoming future leaders.”

WHF is a women-focused, nonpartisan association of men and women that promotes its members in the housing and financial services field. The 40 under 40 award recognizes individuals that have gone above and beyond in their roles in the housing finance industry. Thomas and Oh were recognized by WHF for their successes and contributions on MBA’s Residential Policy team.

Thomas’ many responsibilities include being a main point of contact for state and local mortgage banking associations. She also serves as a leader of mPact, MBA’s national initiative that promotes networking opportunities and programs for young professionals in the housing finance community.

“It is truly an honor to be recognized as WHF’s 40 under 40,” said Thomas. “As a young woman of color, it has been such a rewarding experience to become part of an industry that impacts everyone. I am where I am because of the official and unofficial mentors in my life who took time to invest in my success. My commitment is to pay it forward. I will continue creating opportunities for inclusion in our industry for communities of color, women, and young professionals.”

Oh assists in the research of policy and advocacy issues of importance to MBA and its members. She also works closely with MBA’s Residential Board of Governors (RESBOG) to ensure that MBA’s vision is in line with member and industry priorities.”

It is a privilege to be recognized as one of WHF’s 40 under 40 recipients along with so many other strong and accomplished young women who are doing amazing work in our industry,” said Oh. “Congratulations to all of the honorees.”
