Susan Stewart Honored Among HousingWire’s 2019 Women of Influence

WASHINGTON, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) –  Susan Stewart, 2019 Vice Chairman of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) and CEO of SWBC Mortgage, was honored today as one of HousingWire’s 2019 Women of Influence. Stewart is expected to be elected MBA’s Chairman in 2020, and is a regular speaker at various MBA, state MBA, and industry events.

Now in its ninth year, HousingWire’s list of 50 women influencers represents a variety of occupations within the housing economy, each demonstrating leadership that inspires those in their own companies, in their communities, and in the industry at large.

Since Stewart joined SWBC Mortgage in 1989, the company has grown from three individuals to 615 employees operating in 39 states throughout the country, with annual originations of $3 billion and a servicing portfolio exceeding $10 billion.

Stewart is a member of MBA’s Board of Directors, serves on MBA’s Consumer Affairs Advisory Council, and is the immediate past Vice Chair of MBA’s Residential Board of Governors (RESBOG). She also serves on the board of the MBA Opens Doors Foundation (ODF), where she and SWBC Mortgage have been recognized as Guardian-level donors of the organization. Stewart is set to be elected MBA Chairman in October 2020 for MBA’s 2021 membership year.

Stewart is past president of the Texas Mortgage Bankers Association and the San Antonio Mortgage Bankers, and was appointed to the Texas Mortgage Industry Advisory Committee by the Commissioner of the Texas Savings and Mortgage Banking Division. In 2009, she received the Texas Mortgage Bankers Distinguished Service Award.
